Tony started working with his dad in 1986 and spent many years manufacturing custom orthotics and fitting specialty footwear. In 1997 with his wife Kelli, they purchased the store, first naming it Grady’s Shoe Tree then to Grady’s Feet Essentials.
Tony enjoys volunteering and has helped out at the warming room, Kawartha Food Share and has even strolled George street in red high heel shoes in support of the YWCA Walk A Mile campaign. He is past chair of the DBIA and has also mentored youth in business through the Junior Achievement program. Currently Tony is volunteering with Hospice Peterborough.
Also a musician, you may have seen Tony perform as Elvis in support of Cystic Fibrosis Research at the Trentwinds, or in past years as choir director of St. Martin’s and St. Anne’s churches in Peterborough. Lately Tony performs with the Indian River Band alongside his brother, father and other band members.
After growing up in the Cobourg area, Kelli moved to Peterborough in Grade 12. Within a year she met Tony Grady and the rest, as they say, is history. They were married in 1993 and have two daughters.
Kelli has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from Trent University. She is a volunteer leader with Girl Guides of Canada (which is why you can find Girl Guide cookies at Grady’s in March & October!). She is also a member of a local photography club and loves to travel.
After helping out in the Grady’s shoe store off and on over the years, she permanently joined the team in 1999. She is often found ‘behind the scenes’ as she is in charge of the computerized inventory system, ordering items and social media. She absolutely loves it when customers send photos of themselves wearing Grady’s footwear on their travels around the world – keep them coming!
Kathy has been with Grady’s since June 2004 and manages their customer service team. Kathy came to Grady’s with 30 years of customer service experience including 10 years in management roles. Kathy is very outgoing with a bubbly personality!
Kathy and her husband Doug will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary January 2017 & would love to go back to their favourite holiday spot – Jamaica. They have 3 married children and are kept very busy attending the sporting activities of their 5 grandchildren. They are excited to announce the arrival of their 6th grandchild in July 2016.
Kathy began coaching figure skating in 1977 and still continues to do so. She absolutely loves the sport and says it keeps her young! She feels very fortunate to be able to coach her grandchildren & sees many similarities to when she coached her own children.
Cathy joined the Grady’s team in January of 2003 after 30 years of managing in both retail and direct sales.
For over 13 years Cathy has been a dedicated and valuable member of the team and has been an integral part in the growth of the store.
Still rockin’ at 68, Cathy is an accomplished local musician and currently plays in several bands including multiple Peterborough New Horizon Bands. For many years Cathy and Tony performed with The Indian River Band having fun and raising money for many local charities.
Cathy enjoys travelling and in January 2014 and 2016 went to Cuba to perform with the Peterborough New Horizons Band!

Lindy joined the Grady’s team in October of 2015. In addition to fulfilling her love for helping people at the store, Lindy studies Forensic Science and Psychology fulltime at Trent University.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, practicing photography and reading books.
She hopes to one day be able to move to Banff, Alberta where her older brother and younger sister live.
Elizabeth joined the Grady’s Team in January 2016. She moved around a lot as a child but has been calling Peterborough home now for 11 years.
Elizabeth has completed 2 business diplomas at Sir Sanford Fleming in Accounting and Human Resources. After graduating she was lucky to find a health and safety contract position at a local paper and was able to create a safety program for them.
She is very active in the arts community in Peterborough having taken part in shows with The Peterborough Theater Guild, St. James, Motley Collective, The Theater on King and most recently Cordwainer Productions. Elizabeth is also a competitive dance teacher for Revolutions Dance Studio. Besides the arts she loves spending time with her family and reading.
After working for Grady’s in 2003-2005, Theresa is returning from Belleville to share her years of experience working in customer service with us. Whether it be with shoes, jewelry, bedding or doing your taxes, she realized that working with people and helping them make the right choices, is what she enjoys the most. She can’t wait to continue her adventure with the Grady’s Team.
Other adventures she has enjoyed over the years: white water rafting, Edge walk at CN Tower, Mexico, Scuba certification in Jamaica, skydiving, and returning to Peterborough often because it has always felt like home. She can’t wait to explore and experience this beautiful city again.
Janet has been with Grady’s since May of 2005. She enjoys quality time with her family and friends.
Janet is taking a break from cruising the ocean to enjoy her new place in Florida this year.
In her spare time Janet enjoys gardening, her pets, sewing and craft making. Janet jokes she works part time with Grady’s to finance her travel aspirations!
Taylor started with the Grady’s team in June of 2011. While a part time worker at Grady’s, she’s a full time student at Trent University for Honours Physics and Astronomy.
Taylor is very dedicated to her studies, but in her spare time she plays the piano and the guitar, and is even enjoying learning German in school.
In Memoriam – Lori Welbourn
A valued member of the Grady’s Feet Essentials team from 2013 to 2015. She is greatly missed by both staff and customers.
Lori absolutely loved her job and would come in each day full of energy and ready to serve our customers with a caring and open heart. She took great joy in helping people find the perfect footwear and loved demonstrating the features of her favourite purses. She had a passion for shoes and handbags and was like a kid in a candy store whenever we received shipments of new items!
Outside of work, she adored her animals, particularly birds, and often shared photos and videos of her parrots and other beloved pets. She leaves behind her husband Stephen, daughter Elaine and every one of us here at Grady’s who loved her dearly. Our hearts will forever miss her.
